Life started out kind of rough for me. I was found wandering the streets and picked up as a stray. I was dirty, matted, and not feeling well. After a bath, grooming, and getting into a home I am very confident and interested in the new people that I meet as long as they don't immediately try and shower me with attention. When I first meet you let me sniff around and calmly investigate. Once I determine I will be ok I will wander back your way I know learning new ones for some tasty treats. If the new people have my commands and willingly enjoy doing them while also yummy treats I will really love them. I start off interested in toys but ... (Read More)lose interest quickly when I'm in new environments but once I'm comfortable, trust the space, and pack mate I love to fetch. Sometimes I show interest with small animals but I opt to move away from them verses going after them. I am fine being walked around by my collar, and I'm ok when you pet me or rub my ears. I am totally relaxed when I am held nicely but I don't like to be held to tight so that I feel like I am being restrained. I don't enjoy being stared at for long periods of time as it makes me feel uncomfortable but most dogs don't like a stare down either. I will succeed best when my family can understand and respect my boundaries as I will do the same with them. I enjoy being loved by my people but I just need time to trust again. My current foster family has 2 dogs and I do fine with them. We have had no issues at all and when I need to be crated I am cool with that too. I'm sure by now you can see I have lots of potential and my trainer agrees and wonders if my sometime crabbiness to being handled is because I was so matted and in pain when I was found. That being said I am no longer is in pain so that is a good start. Obviously a home without young kids would be best as I need a family that can understand my body language. (Less)
