|Animal ID: Rocky (10 yr (20 lb)Rocky (10 yr (20 lb) (male)|
Rocky is currently fostered in a rural area out of state. We can bring him into local foster care with adopter interest. He would be fostered in Blakeslee PA 18610, please check your distance from us before applying. He is a purebred Bichon Frise whose owner gave him away to a rescuer at a yard sale 'because he's old'. He's neutered and vaccinated, heartworm negative, still needs a dental. He has partially impaired vision. Can see peripherally but not straight ahead. Good with dogs. Not suitable for children. Very low energy. Would make a great pet for a senior. Submit an application if you'd like to adopt him. All responses are via email, so check your email regularly. |Rescue Me ID: 15-05-23-00130Sebastian (male)|
Hi, Sebastian has been a loving companion to my wonderful mother, Carol, for the last 12 years. Sadly, my Mom was diagnosed with a very rare brain disease in mid-February of this year. Sebastian has been in a kennel ever since, and my efforts to find him a new home have been complicted by my Mom's declining health and the fact that I live in France. Sebastian is true lap dog, who - over time - has gotten anxious and occasionally doesn't want to be petted. He is not a fan of strangers or other dogs. My dream for the rest of Sebastian's life is that he find a new Mommy who loves nothing more than having him on her lap to have his ears scratched. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-12-31-00350Maggie (female)|
Maggie is a six year old bichon who was rescued from a puppy mill, where she received no socialization or training throughout her entire life. Maggie never really learned what it means to be a dog -- or a loved family member. Since arriving at the shelter in November, Maggie has been in a foster home, where she is slowly coming out of her shell. She gets along very well with the dogs and cats in the home, even cuddling up with them to sleep at night. She has learned that she REALLY likes soft dog beds. She is still a little unsure about people. She is excited to see them, and enjoys being around them, but is still leary of being petted or picked up. She is a curious girl, who always peaks her head into a room to see what is going on. You can see she wants to be a part of the action, but she is still too afraid to join in. She loves to sit and look out the window. Maggie's dream home is one where her new family will be patient with her and let her get used to them without pushing her too much. She would do great with other pets, but would probably be scared by small children. She will need help learning basic dog skills, such as potty training and walking on a leash. Maggie's life story has been a rough one, but she is still hoping for a happy ending! (Less)

Bichon Frise Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Bichon Frise is a cute, small, lovable dog. Bichon Frises are very companionable and like to go everywhere with their people. Bichon Frises get along wonderfully with children and other pets. Bichon Frises need to run and play and get plenty of exercise; in addition to playing, they need to be taken on regular walks. Bichon Frises do not yap indiscriminately and they make good watchdogs.
